Hello. My name is Vibha. I am a mom, and I love cooking in my kitchen. I learned how to cook from my grandmother, who says that the most important ingredient that you can include in food is love.

As a mom, I am also looking for my food to be yummy and healthy. In 2017, I came across the book "How Not to Die" by Dr. Michael Greger. In the book, Dr. Greger presents scientific evidence to show that a whole-foods, plant-based diet is best for long-term wellness.

Indian food is predominantly plant-based. However, oil, ghee, butter and dairy are used in almost everything.

Reading Dr. Greger's book started my journey in trying to cook the recipes that I have always loved, but without without oil and dairy.

Candidly, I was skeptical in my search. How can you "fry" without oil? How can you make yogurt? Or, if you love Punjabi food, how will you make "kadi-chawal"?

I am still learning, but it turns out that doing it isn't as hard as I thought it might be. What was hard (for me) was to find the right information as I went along.

I hope that this website helps others who are similarly interested in ways to cook yummy, simple Indian recipes that are whole-foods, plant based.

We try to avoid oil/ghee and animal products, while keeping things simple and yummy.
